Taught

TT is for Taught by the Lord

I struggled in school.  Part of the reason was because to do well in school you needed to spend more time in classes than at home or in the nurses station.  You also have to actually open your overstuffed backpack on a regular basis. Midway through my Junior year the light bulb went on and my grades steadily improved through High School and into college.

How’d I do it? I learned the value of hard work. Many nights my friend were out having fun, and I was in the library with my nose deep in a stack of books.  In that hard work I found a passion for learning that follows me to this day.  My life verse is Ezra 7:10 “For Ezra had set his heart to study the Law of the Lord, and to do it, and to teach his statues and rules in Israel.” Whether in the classroom, homeschooling or leading Bible studies my life has been centered around learning and teaching.

So, I’m pumped about the letter T.  Looking through Scripture you see in the Old Testament, God teaches the children of Israel. “All your children will be taught by the LORD, and great will be their peace.” Is. 54:13.

When Jesus was here on earth that was His main ministry.  “Jesus was going throughout all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every kind of disease and every kind of sickness among the people.” Matt. 4:23.

Today we as believers have the Holy Spirit indwelling in us. “But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.” John 14:26 And we have the Word of God to teach us.“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,” 2 Tim. 3:16

God the Father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit all have had an active roll in teaching mankind throughout the centuries.  What a blessing that we have the Bible to guide, comfort and direct us.  Sometimes when I read a passage over and over and it just still doesn’t sense, I remember to stop and pray and ask God to help me understand.  And He does. What an awesome God who hears and answers that prayer!

  1. I love that we never learn all there is to know about life and God. One of my favorite verses is “The Spirit bears witness with our spirit that we are the children of God.” I experienced that profound teaching in the months immediately after my conversion. I wish I could BE in that beautiful picture!
