EEngraved on the palm of God’s hand.

“Can a woman forget her nursing child, that she should have no compassion on the son of her womb? Even these may forget, yet I will not forget you. Behold, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands;  your walls are continually before me.” Isaiah 49:15-16

These verses were written to the Jews who were feeling alone and discouraged as Jerusalem laid in ruins by the Babylonians.  I love the imagery God used to reassure them he was ever mindful of them and would never let them go. The city was later rebuilt in the 5-6th century BC.

Those truths carry over into the New Testament where we see God is a merciful God and full of compassion. He never forgets us either.

My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand. I and the Father are one.” John 10:27-30

“We count those blessed who endured You have heard of the endurance of Job and have seen the outcome of the Lord’s dealings, that the Lord is full of compassion and is merciful.” James 5:11

“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” 1 Peter 5:7

When the waves of life are coming at your fast and furious, be still and reflect on who God is.
