When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him? Ps. 8:3-4
A few years ago we celebrated our anniversary at a bed and breakfast a couple hours south of here. Arriving I was amazed at the attention to detail.
The location was set back in the woods with trees strategically placed for privacy. It felt like we were in our own little world.
Opening the door I could tell the love and care has gone into preparing for our stay. The log cabin was sparkling clean with high-end furnishings and decorations. A plate of fresh fruit and cookies were on the counter with a welcome letter. The music plays softly through the cabin while the fireplace flames dance around. The atmosphere was perfect for relaxing and rejuvenating. Everything was thought about and planned for. I feel the love of the owner as her hospitality felt like an extension of her home.
The careful attention to detail, planning, and love reminds me of our Creator’s love for us. Check out these verses in Psalms 139
For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well
My frame was not hidden from you
when I was made in the secret place,
when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.
Your eyes saw my unformed body;
all the days ordained for me were written in your book
before one of them came to be.
How precious to me are your thoughts, oh God!
How vast is the sum of them!
God cares about every detail
David describes us as fearfully and wonderfully made. In other words, we are awesomely and uniquely made. God made us in His image. (Gen 1:27). He cares about every detail of our lives from the moment of conception to our last breath.
You are wanted
God wanted to make you. He didn’t have to make you. He wanted to. You weren’t mass produced on an assembly line, you were hand made – one of a kind. Our Creator has paid attention to every detail from the cellular level up through our emotions, soul, and physical appearance.
What does that mean to me?
- I am loved – my Creator knows and loves me beyond measure
- I matter – I have value and worth
- I am not alone – even when I may feel lonely God is near
Understanding who I am in Christ was a game changer for me. It freed me to stop worrying about what everyone else thought and celebrate the uniqueness of who I am. One tool I often refer back to is a pdf from Joyce Meyer. you can access it here – Who I am in Christ.
I’d love to hear your thoughts. What does God being you creator mean to you?
God, You are my creator and sustainer. I am humbled that You, maker of heaven and earth created me with a purpose. You know each of my days, help me remember how deep your love for me is. You are GOD! My mind can’t comprehend your love for me. You want a relationship with me. I pray for you to guide me and give me understanding. I want to walk today fully whole, believing I have value and worth in your sight. In Jesus Name, Amen.
